Wild West C.O.W. Boys of Moo Mesa takes place in the namesake town. The Masked Bull just got his hands on the beautiful Lily Bovine, and it’s up to the 4 gallant law cows to bring the outlaws to justice and rescue the damsel in distress.

Gameplay follows the side-scrolling run n’ gun format, where you’ll have to take down enemies and reach the end of the stage where a boss battle awaits. Some levels have a sub-boss before taking on the main target. Controls are the time-honored direction pad and dedicated buttons for jumping and shooting. Pressing the jump and shoot buttons together allows your C.O.W. Boy to do a charging attack or use any item you’ve picked up in the level. Be aware of the flying chickens that appear throughout the game. Shooting them will drop power ups that gets you either a faster-firing gun or more powerful bullets. Your law cow can take up to three hits before getting knocked-out of the fight. Don’t take it easy though, since there are a lot of outlaw minions that will try to make quick work of you.

Completing the first level lets you choose your next place of engagement. You’d be fighting all manner of outlaws and other named bad guys from the cartoon series. Each boss has a way of trying to deal with the law, and you will have to find those needed openings to get an attack or more in.
